Accessibility
Effective
We want everyone to be able to use this website and the Booktender app, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard or magnification. This page says what we aim for, what we’ve done, what we know still falls short, and how to tell us about a problem.
Our target
This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we’ve done
- Text and controls meet the WCAG contrast ratios.
- Everything works with a keyboard, and the element in focus always shows a visible outline.
- When your device asks for reduced motion, the site’s motion is reduced or removed.
- Every sample call comes with a full written transcript.
- Images have text alternatives, and purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Nothing plays on its own: a sample call’s audio plays only when you press play.
Known gaps
- The product screens on this site are illustrations of the Booktender app, filled with sample data. They are simplified for screen readers, so a screen reader doesn’t hear every detail that is shown.
- We test this site ourselves; it hasn’t had an independent accessibility audit yet.
The Booktender app
In the app that shops and their clients use, automated tests check the contrast of its colours in both its light and dark themes. It can be used with a keyboard, and it reduces motion when your device asks. On a shop’s booking page, the shop’s own brand colour must reach a contrast of at least 3:1 on white, or the app won’t save it.
The app hasn’t had a full accessibility audit yet, so you may find problems we haven’t.
Report a problem
If something on this site or in the app is hard to use, email us at hello@booktender.app. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and, if you like, the device and any assistive technology you use. We reply to every report.
